Arham Akhtar

I graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a bachelors in LLB law and then pursued my legal education further by completing the Legal Practice Course (LPC) alongside LLM from the University of Law. I am currently one of the Directors and Board Member’s at my local Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB).
As a director, my responsibilities include the overall operational control and management of the Bureau, including management of staff and budget: within the agreed legislative, strategic and operational management frameworks, strategic and operational relationships and delivery and development of Quality of Advice Services.
As a Trustee, I am collectively responsible for the governance of the local CAB, including setting an overall vision. This can broadly be defined as holding staff accountable and ultimately accountable for the activities of the local CAB service, providing leadership to all in the Citizens Advice service, and developing policy and strategic management.
I am also responsible for safeguarding at my local community as we work with many different groups of diverse ages, backgrounds and walks of life. We believe that everyone has the right to be kept safe from harm, exploitation and abuse.
Before pursuing law, I was in the health care sector for over a decade, in which I cared for adults with dementia in care homes and worked with children who required mental health support in the local community.
